The Malaysian market has been exposed to too much of the chemical henna these days which in fact has been banned in a few countries.

There is no such thing as black henna. Henna can only be natural and does not stain immediately. It takes hours to get darker. Chemical henna causes skin to itch, peel or other negative reaction.

An honest henna artist will tell you her henna is pure and without harmful chemicals. If you are doubtful, you should refrain from getting the henna.

Natural henna paste would be in olive greenish hue and smooth as confectionary icing when applied on skin. Natural henna impart herbal scent and some are perfumed with essential oils.

Black "henna" looks like ink, some might come in bright red and smell strongly of chemical or paint.
